  Vengad Grama Panchayat is located in Thalassery block of Thalassery taluk of Kannur district. Spread over the villages of Paduvilai and Pathiriyada, this panchayat has an area of ​​28.09 sq. km. The boundaries of this panchayat are Ancharakandi and Keezhalloor panchayats on the north, Mangattidam and Kottayam panchayats and Mattanur Municipality on the east, Pinarayi panchayats on the south, and Pinarayi, Peralassery and Ancharakandi panchayats on the west. The total population of 35801 includes 18571 females and 17230 males. A part of the second largest Karappa plantation in Asia is located in this panchayat. It is a tourist attraction. Vengad is a panchayat that falls in the Edanad region according to its geography. Pattatharikunnu in Anjarakandi is the largest hilly area in this panchayat. The agricultural history of this panchayat dates back to the times of the East India Company. The company had established a warehouse in Anjarakandy to collect the local pepper and send it abroad. A spice farm started here during the company's time, which later became the famous Anjarakandy Brown Saip's Karappathottam. Paddy, banana, cassava, coconut, pineapple, rubber and cashew are the main crops cultivated today. The Anjarakandy River, 36 public ponds and several tributaries are the main water sources in the panchayat.
